- haitian camp 2008 -

here's some pictures from this years haitian camp 2008 - we left friday afternoon & returned home sunday afternoon - we'd a wonderful time & enjoyed every minute of it [well...almost - more will be explained at the end of this blog, but for now, enjoy the pictures!]

most of the gang
brit, taking the plunge on the water slide
kiara [shhh, don't tell her you can see she had panties ONLY on
as she had shorts on, but they had lettering on the butt of them
& wouldn't let her slide - i told her that her panties resembled
bathing suit bottoms & she bought it!!]
ruby, are you sure you want to do this?
karleigh having a great time
kiara, all dolled up in her aunt shari's bathing suit top
ruby, playing cars
karleigh visiting with her aunt shari
kiara, after she stuck those velcro things on her head
her daddy ACCIDENTALLY did this to ruby about 5 minutes earlier
& apparently kiara thought it was a funny thing & did it herself
without anyone knowing what she was doing...until it was to late!
ruby
karleigh, during a relay race
[look at that girl's determination on her face!]
karleigh running with a cup full of water,
but with holes all in the cup

back to the 'rest of the story' about our great weekend [or almost] - when we pulled into the camp on friday afternoon, i parked the van & was waiting for spike to pull up the hill so we could get the camper leveled & begin our weekend - it took him FOREVER as he kept stopping along the way - not only was he stopping, but everytime he did, he sort of 'lunged' the camper [ie: like stomping on the brakes] - i went to the camper & said, "what are you doing??" - he said he'd just been pulling up the hill & lost his brakes!!! - thank god that didn't happen on the way or he'd have been on the interstate going 65-70mph without brakes [thank you jesus!]
`
we finally got it leveled [i guess here i shouldn't say WE, but HE] & started getting things ready - he called a mechanic & they came checked it out on saturday & had to order a part [i'm female, so don't ask me what it was called, k?] - the mechanic came out on sunday when they got the part in & installed it & with a smile on his face said, "that'll be $549 sir" [not really smiling on the outside, but i'm sure he was smiling behind his eyes] - then, not only were we not prepared for that amount of money, but they wouldn't take a check or credit card or anything since we were out of town & it was sunday, they'd only take cash - ugh
`
anyhow, it got fixed & we made it home & we really did have a great weekend [thanks shalimar!]
